Banking on Africa’s Future (BOAF) – 10,000 Points of Light (POL) in collaboration with Africa Heritage Society recently announced the induction of Siyazama Commodities and African Union Logistics Founding Director, Mr. Ravi Nadesan to the 10,000 Points of Light (POL) community.

The induction ceremony, a collaborative initiative of BOAF, Connections2Communities (C2C) and the Africa Heritage Society will be held on the 3rd of May 2021 at The ROYAL INDIA RESTAURANT located on No.2 Maude Street in Sandton, Johannesburg at 6pm in the evening.

BOAF is an initiative of the 1873 Network, a member-based not-for-profit organization established in South Africa, founded to provoke, inspire and ignite new and innovative ways of problem solving in Africa based on connected, equipped and forward leaning voluntary actors.

While commenting on Mr Nadesani’s induction, BOAF -10,000 Points of Light Director, Mr. Jagjit Singh, said: “Africa’s true promise lies in its individuals who to the person are playing their part in shaping and defining brand Africa.

The continent belongs to all who live in it and as such, this pilot phase of rebranding Africa involves building a bank of 10,000 names as part of promoting and preserving its corporate history and heritage.

This helps to showcase and celebrate members in such a bank of doers who are daily giving character and personality to the brand through deeds in pursuit of excellence in their professions or crafts.

Mr Singh added that he voluntarily joined the initiative because he believed that being part of a community of good values was better than being an icon in isolation and also highlighted that his engagements in this network of light bearers has significantly increased his net worth.

“People and opportunities that would hardly be visible and attainable have revealed and opened themselves to me in a convenient way.

Since being inducted into the hall of 10,000 Points of Light on the 4 April 2021 during a celebration hosted by the Royal India Restaurant in Sandton, Johannesburg, I have inspired a new class of innovative budding entrepreneurs not only in the hospitality industry but across many industries.

Through my BOAF membership, I have also nominated a number of candidates for consideration by the 10,000 POL Selection Committee as we march towards the target 10,000 goal.” Mr Singh said.

The inductee, Mr.  Nadesan said “Having attended many events hosted by C2C, AHS and BOAF, I feel honored to have been nominated by Mr. Singh to be part of the 10,000 candles to inspire hope by sharing my own journey in problem solving as a business actor.

When 10,000 candles are assembled together, the impact will be unmistakable and being an integral part of this circle, I am confident my own circle of actors will be provoked to join us. I believe that I am a trailblazer of my own choices and actions in life.

As such, by being inducted into the Hall of 10,000 Points of Light, my tiny flicker of hope when added to others will no doubt help build the Africa that I want to see based on problem solving since every problem that is solved brings joy to the other people and also promotes inclusivity and mutuality.

After all, I am my brother’s keeper and so, many people bank on me as I also bank on many others.”

BOAF member  and iniAFRICANews Editor, Mr. Brian Kazunguan said: “I am excited to welcome Mr. Nadesan to this bank of hope against a backdrop of this new normal in the history of human civilization when the need to build platforms showcasing the contributions of ordinary people like Ravi are needed as business accelerators and propellers.

The hall of 10,000 POLs inductees like Ravi inspire present and future generations to reach higher ambitions, push boundaries, and create breakthroughs that will positively impact Africa’ future.”

Ms. Janice Greaver, a member of C2C, AHS and BOAF, said: “I am pleased that each deposit to the Hall of 10,000 POL represents a step towards shaping and defining the character of the Africa I Want to see.

It is self-evident that however one may wish to look at it, Africa is divided yet what divides us if often based on ignorance and lack of shared understanding. As such, through this initiative, I can see the light of hope at the end of the tunnel.

Like Ravi, I am waiting for nobody to play my part in solving problems that allow others to be of value to the business of life.”
