What is Tithing? The definition comes from Hebrew and means “a tenth.”

Biblically tithing refers to giving 10 percent of your annual earnings, productions, or possessions.

  1. The book of Leviticus 27:30 says “A tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, is the Lord’s, and is holy.

·         Always give the Lord 10% of your time, money, produce because it belongs to him.

  • The book of Proverbs 3:9 (NIV) says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.”

·         Show God that you honor him by giving him the first fruits of your labor.

What is offering? Offering is something that is given or presented, it is an act of gratitude to God. Offering is a monetary contribution made onto the Church for giving thanks to the Lord.

  1. The book of 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your

heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

·         God wants us to be willing to give what we have decided in our hearts to give.

  • The book of Proverbs 18:16 says, “A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”

·         Giving opens doors for you that no man can close.

  • The book of Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.”

·         God is the source of our wealth.

The book of Acts 20:35 says, “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to

give than to receive.’”

·         Always remember this principle, you give to be blessed and you give from the heart.

Key Notes

  • To offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God is to offer yourself entirely to him.
  • Offering your life to God isn’t something you do one time at the altar or on the days you feel good. Living sacrificially for God is something he calls everyone to do every day.
