Today’s Message:  Today Is Your Defining Moment

Date; Sun, Feb 6, 2022 at 8 AM till 11 AM

Scripture reference

2 Corinthians 4:4 – King James Version

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Proverbs 11:24-25 TPT

Generosity brings prosperity, but withholding from charity brings poverty. Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor.

Proverbs 11:24-25 – The Message

24 The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. 25 The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed;

those who help others are helped.

Psalms 90:12-TPT

Help us to remember that our days are numbered, and help us to interpret our lives correctly. Set your wisdom deeply in our hearts so that we may accept your correction.

Psalms 30:5

For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favor [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.

2 Kings 4 verse 2 – The Widow’s Olive Oil

4 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” 2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

Sermon Notes

A defining moment is a point at which the essential character of a person is established. Every one of us has had a defining moment in our lives. I’ve had many particularly since I became a believer. I was born again in 1987 at an early age and this was a defining moment in my life.

I felt love for the first time in my life. I saw myself responding to the altar call weeping tears of joy. During those years at Grace Bible Church (Bishop Mosa Sono) Easter services, I was chosen to sing with other children in front of a massive congregation.

Our leaders were  Ausi Winnie and Mr. Taylor Matsime.  I grew up in a Christian Methodist Church home with my mom Tony Gloria Tony Bodibe.

At Methodist Church, they allowed me to preach and this was also my defining moment.

In 1996 at Reach Out for Christ Ministry (TFT), they gave me another opportunity to preach along with Pastor Sizwe Mtiyane and I will forever embrace it in my heart.

I will forever be grateful because it was a defining moment to serve so many years under the leadership of Rev Kgositsile Montoedi Kotu and Mom J Kotu for 21 years.

To sit listening to Rev Kotu during  Wednesday evening services was also my other defining moment.

2 Kings 4:1-4 NIV. The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the LORD. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” … Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars.

This man has been under the ministry of Elisha. Elisha was the Head of the School to those prophets and yet you see that this man who served under him was in debt. It means that this widow’s husband missed his defining moment.

Your life is on the time clock. Everything has to do with time. I honestly believe that some ministries suffer because people don’t do what they were supposed to do on time.

This lady had three problems

1. She’s in bereavement

2. She’s in debt

3. She’s in bondage

What sin did she commit? She is in bereavement because her husband had died.

She is in debt, she’s in bereavement and she’s in bondage. Those times you had what we call debtor prisons and the debtors were coming to take her sons.

Why did that man leave his wife in debt? He should have never left that woman in debt because he was under the ministry of Elisha.

Elisha was debt-free. For many years the man might have never picked up that Elijah was debt-free because he might have never sown a seed in Elisha’s ministry.

I can tell you that you can have a lot of people under your ministry and yet they will not be hearing what you say. They listened to what you said and they might not have heard it.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

He left that woman in debt and he was under the ministry of Elisha. He didn’t realize that serving under Elisha was a defining moment for him.

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Don’t miss your defining moment under this ministry. Both my leaders are debt-free. I’m not going to stop sowing but I never ask my leaders where they are sowing. I believe they are also sowing into somebody else’s ministry.

My unsolicited advice is that don’t say that you can’t sow. I don’t need anybody working with me to say that they can’t afford to sow.

Remember God appeared to Abraham in Genesis chapter 12 and God told him that go to another place and leave behind his kindred.

God promised to bless him and the word blessed means empowered to prosper, empowered to increase, to multiply to succeed, and to excel.

In other words, God is saying, I will be your source if you obey me from this day forward. I will personally be your source and I will empower you to prosper.

Abraham obeyed that – Genesis chapter 12 and

Genesis chapter 13 verse 1.

One chapter later, the Bible says Abraham was rich in cattle, sheep, and silver.

I would like to ask you how many chapters after reading the Word of God will it take you for God to prove to you that he is a good source. That he’s the God in whom nothing is impossible.

Abraham sowed a seed to Melchizedek by giving him a tithe to show that he honored him.

By the time you get to Genesis chapter 24vs.1, Abraham was very old and God had blessed him in all things. Another translation says God had blessed him in every way.

The defining moment in your life – what you do right now will determine not only your future personally but the future of your ministry.

What you do right now during this crisis that we’ve been experiencing is going to affect your future and you need to know how you respond, how you react, and what to do with what you’ve learned.

What you know has everything to do with where you’re headed

A defining moment is a point at which the essential character of a person is established. Defining moments mold, shape, and define our lives now and in our future.

How we respond right now to the events in our lives will affect where we are headed. You will have defining moments in your life that will test your resolve.

How you act will determine what direction your life will go in. It can take you on a path of failure and destruction, or a path to some of your greatest victories.

God wants your dreams to come to pass. So, stay in faith. It’s a wonder you weren’t killed by COVID-19.  You are still alive today. Be Thankful To Be Alive Today. Today is your  Defining Moment

Moses and the Burning Bush – Moses had a defining moment when he talked to a burning bush in Genesis or Exodus Chapter 3.

What happened at that burning bush? God gave him instructions about going to Pharaoh and tell him to let the people of Israel go but Moses thought that he was not qualified.

His excuse was that he stammered and so he wanted Aaron to be given the task. If Moses had succeeded in talking himself out of this mission, he would have missed the defining moment of his life.

Daniel also had a defining moment in the lion’s den because he did not give in to the pressure. God did shut the lion’s mouth and Daniel was not even hurt. It was a defining moment for him

Shadrach Meshach and Abednego had a defining moment when they stood up against Nebuchadnezzar.

They refused to bow even though they were told that they will be thrown into a fiery furnace of fire.

The furnace was heated seven times more and yet when Nebuchadnezzar looked in there he saw three Hebrew children who were not even harmed and this was a defining moment.

Exodus 3 verse 5 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”

4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.”

5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

This verse presents a defining moment. Look at verse 24. There is that scattereth and yet increaseth and there is that withholdeth more than is meat but it tends to poverty.

So, when you are giving, you are given a choice to look at this as a defining moment. There is this person who scatters and yet he increases and on the other hand there is this person that withholds and yet ends in poverty.

God is asking you to scatter the seed and yet you are unwilling to do it. This can lead you to poverty and I don’t want this to happen to you.

The Contemporary English Bible says generosity is always rewarded and the Modern English version says the generous soul will be made rich. The Passion translation says that generosity brings prosperity but withholding brings poverty.

Sow something and show the devil that he is not control of your life. You must obey God and show the devil that he is not your boss.

I obey God and I’m accustomed to sowing. I’m not going to stop sowing. I’m going to sow seeds regardless of circumstances.

Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth and talked about the Christians in Macedonia. The bible says they were extremely poor but they begged Paul to let them help even though they were struggling themselves.

Read 2 Corinthians.

They were determined that their crisis or temporary poverty was not going to stop them from sowing. As for me, until today,  I am still giving my tithing and offerings.

Don’t ever stop sowing. If you’re a tither, don’t stop tithing. Don’t cut yourself off from supernatural increases.

What you’re saying right now and your actions right now are going to cause a response from Jesus and here’s what you’re likely to hear him say according to your actions:

1) Oh, ye of little faith 2) Why is it that you have no faith 3) Be not faithless 4) Great is thy faith

That’s what he said to people during his earthly ministry based on how they talked, how they acted, or how they responded in a crisis.

I don’t want to be a person where Jesus says oh ye of little faith. You are in a position right now to determine your future by how you talk, how you act, and how you respond.

Heavenly   Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that not one person in here this morning will miss this defining moment. I thank you Lord for your obedient people and even more so, I thank you that we’re serving a faithful God. You are faithful and you have given us your promise. You have given us your holy Word that if we are obedient to scatter seeds, then we will become prosperous. You reveal what you want us to do, I believe that your children will be obedient and I believe that they are setting themselves up for a great future through the seeds they sow in Jesus’ name and we thank you for it. Amen and Amen.

Many Thanks, I love you and I’m praying for you!
