Hebrews 3:4-6

4 And many people can build houses, but only God made everything

1 Corinthians 3:10-11

New International Version

10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:9

King James Version

9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

If you want the ministry to be larger you must think as a builder. The vital part is to train leaders.

Ephesians 2:19-20

New International Version

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

Psalm 127:1

Living Bible

127 Unless the Lord builds a house, the builders’ work is useless. Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good.

Psalm 127

A song of ascents. Of Solomon.

1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

SERMON NOTES:

God’s desire is for us to be builders of people in our family, fellow church members, company, career, our government, nation, co-workers, spouse, and kids).

How can we do this?

Definition of a Builder: A person who constructs something by putting parts or material together. The word builder also refers to a construction worker who specializes in building work.

God’s way of doing things is to build. We are made in God’s image, and therefore, if we are to have anything of substance, we need to learn the principles of a builder. What makes a difference in your moving forward lies in understanding the concept of a building.

The building process must not be hurried, it involves a series of stages. Quite often, we want what other people have, but we don’t want to walk the journey that they have travelled simply because we don’t know the principles behind their success.

God is not in the maintenance business; He is in the increment business. He causes an increase.

You must have these qualities for you to be a builder: Developed Character, Integrity, Tenacity,

Unifier Mindset.

One Soul at a time, together, with your support, we are a mighty force in winning souls for God!

You can’t be a haphazard Christian – the word haphazard means lacking any obvious principle of organization.

For example, you don’t pray regularly, you don’t read the word of God and you always complain.

You must be systematic in your actions You must act according to a fixed plan. You must correct yourself at all times.

Proverbs 15:10 AMPC – There is severe discipline for him who forsakes God’s way; and he who hates reproof will die [physically, morally, and spiritually].

Some of you cannot build anything because you are haphazard. You are always very emotional. You are “feelings-oriented”. You just do what makes you happy – if you feel like you don’t want to pray, you don’t pray.

If you feel like you don’t want to wake up in the morning, you don’t wake up. When there are rain clouds in the sky, you don’t come to church, but at the workplace or school, you just go without complaining. The haphazard culture is so toxic for Christians.

We are not called to do only what makes us happy. We are called to do what glorifies God. Christianity isn’t always sunshine and happiness. It’s also hard work and dedication to Jesus.

The Holy Spirit does not lead us in a haphazard way.

Matthew 22:33 – And when the multitude heard [this], they were astonished at his doctrine.

Jesus’ words carry weight because of prayer. Jesus had a rich devotional life.

John 7:16 – Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

Words carry unction, Words carry authority.  Joshua was the successor of Moses. Moses was a leader who was unparalleled. He spoke face to face with God.

The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua, son of Nun, did not leave the tent. Exodus 33:11

Doctrine is a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a Church.

Deuteronomy 34:5-7

The Voice – God Himself buried Moses, with no grave and no monument that the Israelites could use to create another idol for worship.

5 So Moses, the Eternal’s servant, died there in the land of Moab, just as the Eternal had said. 6 He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. 7 Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eyesight hadn’t failed and his strength hadn’t diminished.

Why was only Miriam punished with leprosy when she and Aaron rebelled against Moses?

Numbers 12:10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous —it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease

Joshua 1:8 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Isaiah 28:10-12 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. King James Version

How God builds you in your spiritual growth. He teaches you his precepts. Our entry-level is to be born again. It’s like the foundation of another level of growth filled with the Holy Spirit. If you don’t speak in other tongues you are going to miss out on your spiritual growth.

When you speak in other tongues you don’t remove the foundation of being born again. You build on that. Any new teaching that you hear isn’t new to God. God knows everything.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. New International Version

When you build you build upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there, a little:

In 1987, when I was born again, I knew about salvation, filled with the Holy Spirit, Baptism etc… I have not stopped my foundation of being Christian until today.  I didn’t forget those principles. What I was taught, I am still building upon precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, and there a little.

Exodus 25:1-9

True building must not be hurried, it involves a process. Whatever God directs you to do is of building, if we build without following God’s pattern, all that we do is in vain.

We face problems when we don’t want to wait, don’t undermine or overlook people with experience. Life requires an unhurried spirit. We learn as we build.

When you build, go in with a plan and don’t rush. Apply yourself and be mindful that you can’t fast-track the process. God has designed that everything that matters in life must be built. Life is built gradually.

God is the “Architect” – our foundation. Our God is a builder and His Modus Operandi which is defined asa particular way or method of doing something for our lives is the art of building.

Building involves a lot of things, and a foundation is the most important part. All of life is about building, and that’s how God has designed everything. God builds. Our God is an Architect, God is a builder.

Exodus 25:1-2,8-9

God is an architect. He is going to give you a plan. God is very specific about the material to be used and the quality of the material. He will anoint certain people for certain tasks. His Spirit will come upon those people so that what they build is built according to a defined pattern.

What does Building require:

1. Plan – You must have a plan. Is it written down? Building involves different things. Manage your time when building.

When you are a builder, you must be able to coordinate all things in your life in order to be able to build. You must not try to fast-track everything; some things take time. Commit to a journey of process.

2. Building involves different things:

A plan, engineers, builders, finance, etc.

God wants to help you to have the capacity to have a balance in your life.

3. You learn that when it comes to building, you must start somewhere, doesn’t matter how little.

Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [a]prevail against it.

Jesus is the builder- Jesus is a house builder

A foundation is a defence against certain attacks when building a remarkable life.

Matthew 7:24-25

The two houses experienced rain but the one was destroyed because the foundation was not strong the builder was in a hurry to build. The other house was never destroyed because the foundation was built on solid rock.

Principle – Building involves different things

God is a Creator; He is a Moulder. He is a God who can create something good even when there is no model that inspires you. God restores. He can create through you something that has never been seen before. Our God is a builder Who also rebuilds things.

In the Bible, we see how an encounter with God can turn ‘ordinary’ people into people of great significance because of His ability to rebuild. We see this in the lives of Esther, Paul, Job, Daniel, and even Nehemiah.

These remarkable people were willing to maximize the uniqueness that God has given them.

How To Build a Remarkable Life?

God has designed that anything that matters in life must be built. We will never have anything in life if we don’t approach it with a mentality of building.

You must be willing to do what others are not willing to do for you to be Remarkable: Exceptional, Outstanding; Extraordinary; Uncommon; Unusual.

Jesus did His best to push people to go beyond the norm.

NARROW ROAD – Matthew 7:13

It’s much easier to get things through the wrong way than the right way. The road that leads to destruction is wide.

BE RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE – Daniel 6:3

One of the remarkable people that is most talked about is Daniel. He distinguished himself by his exceptional qualities. Daniel was a very respectful person.

In this world of ours, humility is now a rare commodity

Matthew 13: 55

Jesus couldn’t perform miracles in His own hometown because they were not respectful.

Matthew 23:11

1 Peter 2:17

TEN (10) AREAS WHERE WE NEED TO SHOW RESPECT IN ORDER TO BE A REMARKABLE PEOPLE.

1. We Must Show Respect to God’s Name and God’s Word.

Exodus 20:7

We mustn’t misuse the name of God. We must not use the name of God thoughtlessly and in vain.

2 Corinthians 4:2

We shouldn’t use the name of God to trick people.

2. We Must Show Respect to Our Parents, Both Biologically and Spiritually.

Ephesians 6:3

We must honour our parents even though we may at times not approve of the things they do.

Honouring our Parents is one of the 10 commandments. It is the only commandment that came with

a promise.

3. Show Respect to Your Spouse

1 Peter 3:7

We must treat her with respect so that our prayers will not be hindered

Ephesians 5:33

A man must love his wife as part of himself, and the wife must see to it that she deeply respects her husband – obeying, praising and honouring him.

4. Show Respect to The Body of Christ

I must show respect to our Pastors, Leaders, and other churches.

Hebrews 13:17

Obey your leaders and act under their authority. This doesn’t mean they must abuse their power.

Romans 12:10

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour.

5. Show Respect to Older People

Leviticus 19:32

1 Timothy 5:1

Do NOT sharply censure or rebuke an older man but plead and entreat with him as you would a father…

Treat everyone with respect. We will get there too and will know how it feels to be mistreated.

To appreciate, we must learn to put ourselves in other people’s shoes.

6. Show Respect to Non-Believers

1 Peter 3:16

But do this in a gentle manner.

Jesus was angry with the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. Jesus never said anything bad to the non-believers. We must show honour and respect to the non-believers.

7. Show Respect to The Poor

Exodus 22:25

God is on the side of poor people.

Exodus 23:6

Do not deny justice to the poor people in the lawsuits.

There are people who are stuck and have to scramble for a living. They too still have dignity. They do not need a hand-out but need a hand up. When we honour people and treat them with respect, it doesn’t take a lot from us but has a great impact on poor people.

8. Show Respect to The Migrants and Foreigners

A migrant is a person who moves from one place to another, especially in order to find work or a better living.

Do not treat foreigners and migrants with disrespect but treat them just as you treat your own citizens. You will travel one day and be in another country and you will feel what it’s like to be ill-treated.

By the Grace of God, I have travelled here in Africa to countries like Lesotho, Mozambique and Swaziland. I have also been to the United States of America, Europe (Netherlands) and Dubai in Asia

9. Show Respect to My Opponents and Enemies.

Matthew 5:43

10.  Show Respect to Those in Authority.

We are allowing people in our country to break the law on their own but put the

blame on the officials. We have become a group of lawbreakers.

Once we get to a point where there is no law that governs us, it’s going to be a mess. If the foundations are broken, what can the righteous do?
