Mr. Tapiwa Virima, Managing Director of DiasporaMeds Pty Limited (DM) inducted into the Banking on Africa’s Future (BOAF) – 10,000 Points of Light (POL) for his role in shaping and defining the personality and character of medical insurance solutions using South Africa as geographical platform.

“I am pleased to announce on behalf of Africa Heritage Society (AHS), a not-for-profit organization that is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, in collaboration with the 1873 Network, the induction of Mr. Virima for his contribution in the medical insurance space by providing solutions to 4 African states and reaching about 20 nation-states with DM’s unique solutions.

Mr. Virima is a LinkedIn connection of Mr. Mutumwa Mawere, the Chairman of the BOAF – 10,000 POL initiative that was established to provoke, ignite, inspire the conversion of social media connections into community power.

Mr. Mawere with LinkedIn connections of 30,000 and 34,000 followers does own the persons who voluntarily chose to be connected to him and there is no way in a single lifetime for him to know this community.

The problem statement that informed the creation of BOAF is that although Mr. Mawere has a bank of more than 30,000 persons, the persons are diverse and yet included in one human population.

I am encouraged that Mr. Virima has agreed to be part of this organically created human bank from which he can reach out to by simply identifying himself as one of the target 10,000 potential connected clients.

I believe that when human beings come together, the multiplier effect is exponential,” said Mr. Frederick Koomson, BOAF’s director of Public Engagement and Awareness.

Mr. Virima’s Executive Assistant and DM’s Business Development Manager initiated the outreach to Mr. Mawere on LinkedIn using Mr. Virima’s account as follows:

Good day Mutumwa

[1:34 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: If you were to ask her to write a story using our chat from 11:33am today above to share on my LinkedIn wall, what should be the headline after joining?

[1:35 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: Please take notice that story telling is one of the best accelerators in this digital age.

[1:36 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00123: Totally agreed she is on it and she is reaching out we should have something by tomorrow

[1:37 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: Do you want our staff to do one and then she can take a cue from it?

[1:38 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00123: That would be great, but however she possibly has a better understanding of the story hence they may need to work together

[1:40 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: The story will be about the thread hence it can be done as a pilot from this end. There would be no prejudice if we start the ball rolling.

[1:40 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00123: Are you available for a quick call

[1:40 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: She can then put her rating on whether the content is an accelerator or not.

[1:41 pm, 25/08/2022] POL00012: Ok.

“I have read with interest the above thread and believe that lessons can be drawn from the above that can provoke a change of worldviews on what is required to be done to deliver the promise of an inclusive and cohesive Africa.

Unlike the popular propaganda, Mr. Virima, a person of Zimbabwean heritage, chose to be domiciled in South Africa, a country in which Identity Politics is not only topical but is being weaponized based on lack of understanding on what it means to be human let alone to qualify to be aggregated into a class of humans called Zimbabweans in South Africa.

Mr. Virima is documented and is a Permanent Resident of South Africa and he is a direct and indirect contributor to the SA fiscus, yet the contribution to the prosperity of South Africa is dwarfed by the perception that all Zimbabweans impose a cost to South Africa.

By creating a bank of persons like him and his colleagues, the hope is that SA’s public office bearers would send right signals that once a class of persons who reside in SA, albeit without documents, are identified in the mind as FOREIGNERS, the real risk is that this approach will leave no foreign-born black skinned person secure.

I am, therefore, pleased to note that the deposit of a forward-leaning person like Mr. Virima will go a long way towards building the Africa I want to see in which the dignity of all persons count more than the place of birth.

I look forward to becoming a Brand Ambassador of a member like Mr. Virima and all the solutions that are offered through the agency of DM so that the benefits promised can reach more Africans,” said Mr. Tinashe Mpasiri, Director of the C2C Initiative and a member of the BOAF – 10,000 POL initiative.
