Did you know that Mr. Khuphukile Dube, is the proud owner of the award-winning Dube Brahman stud farm, located about 50km from Polokwane, and he has been inducted into the Banking on Africa’s Future’s (BOAF) initiative to build a bank of 10,000 diverse individual value actors or Points of Light (POL) who individually through problem-solving shape and define the personality and character of Africa as a home of forward-leaners and not backward-leaning lamenting and finger pointing identity group?

Mr. Dube, a friend of Malobongwe Mandela, was introduced to Mr. M. Mawere, a member of the BOAF initiative, last week in Johannesburg, and following a conversation on why Africa’s brand is seemingly dark and opaque, especially in relation to commercial value chains resulting in the absurd notions that black Africans represent not only a victimhood identity class but a cursed and hopeless lot of rearview mirror looking humans who dwell on the ghosts of the past rather than the whispers of tomorrow’s untapped potential and opportunities, shared his interesting and inspiring experiences as a proudly BRAHMAN cattle breeder.

The breakfast meeting was held at the Marriot Hotel in Melrose Arch and clearly, the environment could not have assisted in confirming the reality that Mr. Dube was a cattle breeder as is often the case when people meet randomly.

Mr. Dube shared with Mr. Mawere the following pictures and a video of the examples of his stock:

The above prompted Mr. Mawere to share with some of the members of BOAF including Dr. Xolani Dlamini, Director of the Eswatini Veterinary Services Department,

Mr. Mulenga Sata, former Zambian Deputy Minister, is also an animal breeder.

and:

Dr. Dlamini was the first one to respond as follows:

[9/10, 10:03 PM] mdmawere1: What do you think of the stock?
[9/10, 10:12 PM] Dr Xolani Dlamini Director Vet: Classic, really high quality
[9/10, 10:13 PM] Dr Xolani Dlamini Director Vet: Where are these animals?
[9/10, 10:18 PM] mdmawere1: Let me check and revert
[9/10, 10:21 PM] mdmawere1: [9/10, 10:20 PM] Khuphukile Dube: Polokwane
[9/10, 10:21 PM] mdmawere1: Great
[9/11, 7:04 AM] mdmawere1: Morning
[9/11, 7:05 AM] Dr Xolani Dlamini Director Vet: Morning Sir.
[9/11, 7:05 AM] mdmawere1: [9/10, 10:22 PM] mdmawere1: He is the Head of Eswatini Vet Department.
[9/10, 11:05 PM] Khuphukile Dube: That’s great, the challenge is the land otherwise we could be doing wonders
[9/11, 7:05 AM] mdmawere1: Good morning
[9/11, 7:08 AM] Dr Xolani Dlamini Director Vet: Yes, the land is the limiting factor.
[9/11, 7:11 AM] mdmawere1: Do you see any promise in delivering the Africa we want by knowing him as part of the Banking on Africa’s Future to the extent that blacks do not ordinarily shine in the commercial breeding arena?

This story is worth sharing for it exposes that in a supposedly dark continent, not everything is dark after all.
