Mr Eric Mahamba-Sithole, a member of the Banking on Africa’s Future (BOAF) – 10K POINTS OF LIGHT (POL) initiative asserts the quest for Human Capital Excellence is a reliable bridge to the promise of an inclusive and borderless Africa.

A question was posed to Mr. Mahamba-Sithole by Mr. Tinashe Mpasiri, Director of Public Engagement and Awareness, of the BOAF-10000 POL initiative to raise awareness on the urgency and need to build circles around problems that call for solutions, regarding what kind of Africa does he want as a person to see and his response was as follows:

“The Africa that I want to see is an ecosystem that is underpinned by an open, accountable governance system, free, and in which the human or soft side of the value addition to deliver outcomes is provoked, ignited and inspired to add character and personality to problem solving.

I am reminded by John Locke’s poignant observation that the earth’s greatest treasure lies in the personality of a human being to underscore the point that nothing of value can find expression and existence without the creativity and ingenuity of the human being.

However, history of human civilization has demonstrated that a person can leave one country seemingly hopeless only to excel in another country.

If we took time to reflect on the power of the human spirit to create outcomes against all odds, it will be self-evident that with a population of 1.3 billion, Africa’s true balance sheet and promise is hidden in the 1.3 billion POL but the reality is poverty, unemployment and inequality.

The question is then why are we poor and talking to Mr. Mutumwa Mawere, a member of BOAF-10,000POL, I learned that the opposite of POVERTY is not WEALTH but the RULE OF LAW, meaning that freedom and the rule of law are foundational building blocks for provoking human capital to best unlock itself as a problem solving variable.

I believe that human capital development excellence is a sine qua non for development.

I was pleasantly surprised to establish that a single person like Mr. Mawere has 34K followers and a network of 30K on his LinkedIn platform and as a human capital development practitioner I salivated at the opportunity of accelerating my reach to a market of persons who are keen to optimise and accelerate their bridging to the job market and rapidly rising up being a paid up member of HOAF hence my joining the bank that I can bank on to add value to the future that I see myself as a shaper.

It occurred to me that if Mr. Mawere were to talk to each of his contacts per day, it will take him 82 years to do so.

Instead of him being a mentor, it makes sense for me to promote my own brand visibility piggybacking on his extensive network as a member.

I am excited by the initiative to convert connections into community power as a bridge to building excellence.

I shuddered to think what would be the outcome if football was not characterized by structure and order or admin that allows for organized processes and outcomes.

If anyone is keen to be part of this exciting project to use connectivity to build a borderless but organized community of fragmented actors to share experiences, ideas, ideas and knowledge on what is needed to accelerate, aggregate and optimise problem solving processes and outcomes.”
