Pretoria – The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Mr Parks Tau, has officially announced the appointment of Mr Kaamil Alli as the new spokesperson for the Ministry, effective 1 July 2025.

Minister Tau welcomed Mr Alli to the role, praising his leadership experience and academic credentials. “Mr Alli brings a youthful dynamic to the position, having led organisations like the Wits SRC as its Secretary-General and the MSA Union as its President,” said Minister Tau.
A graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand with an LLB degree, Mr Alli focused his elective studies on Competition Law, Environmental Law, and International Trade Law—areas directly relevant to the Ministry’s portfolio. He completed his legal training at the Office of the State Attorney, reinforcing his commitment to public service.
“I am confident that he will enrich our relationship with the media, enabling us to strengthen all our efforts in keeping our stakeholders and the South African public informed of all our work,” the Minister added.
Mr Alli’s appointment signals the Ministry’s continued commitment to transparency, accessibility, and proactive communication in advancing South Africa’s trade and industrial policy agenda.
Over the years, I have found it challenging to define myself solely by an academic qualification, trade, or occupation. My eagerness to learn, especially about how to build and deploy capital, has allowed me to accumulate diverse experiences in a short span of time. Through this journey, I have discovered that at my core, I am a storyteller. I tell the stories of corporations, their heritage, and the individuals who act in their name. I explore the role of these institutions in fulfilling the promise of a better Africa, and, most importantly, the causal link between the rule of law and economic development. As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
