The recent statement by Joseph Mudekunye, Shavirai Piniel Mawere and Fred Koomson attempting to paint themselves as victims and justify their actions in the Mutumwa Mawere saga reeks of desperation. Their manipulative narrative, riddled with inconsistencies, cannot mask the truth: they are exploiting a vulnerable man for their own gain. This is a story of greed, conspiracy and courage, where the relentless efforts of truth-seekers like Tichaona Mupasiri and Nomusa Ramushu shine a light on the darkness of deceit.

The gravity of the situation reached its peak when the police were called to Mutumwa Mawere’s home at 62 Cambridge Road, Bryanston, Sandton, Johannesburg, not once but four times. The police were there to escort an ambulance urgently summoned by the Friends of Mutumwa Mawere in a desperate bid to save him from the jaws of death.
At hand, presented and revealed harrowing details: Mutumwa has been severely malnourished and dehydrated, leading to acute weight loss. The report paints a grim picture of neglect, further exposing the malice behind the actions of those who entrusted themselves with his care.
In such cases of blatant abuse, privacy and dignity are luxuries the perpetrators do not deserve. These actions are not mere family disputes—they are acts of cruelty that can only be described as the work of devil incarnates. Shavirai Piniel Mawere, Mutumwa’s younger brother, has invaded his home, ejecting Nomusa Ramushu, the woman who has been caring for Mutumwa with love and dedication since his stroke in June 2004.
Adding to the betrayal, Joseph Mudekunye, a cousin based in the USA, has not visited Mutumwa even once since his stroke, yet he presumes the right to dictate his care and control his life from afar.
On Wednesday, 22 January 2025, Tichaona Mupasiri stood firm in the High Court of Johannesburg, fighting not just for Mutumwa’s rights but also for justice and humanity. Mupasiri’s request to postpone the case to 18 August 2025 underscores his genuine commitment to ensuring that Mutumwa has the opportunity to recover and participate in the proceedings.
The postponement also exposes the sinister motives of those seeking to exploit Mutumwa’s vulnerabilities. If Mupasiri were acting solely in his own interests, why would he request a delay in the case? His actions reveal a commitment to uncovering the hidden truths that Joseph Mudekunye and Shavirai Piniel Mawere are desperate to conceal.
This saga is not just about family betrayal; it is a larger battle against the vultures who hijacked Mutumwa’s companies and now seek to finish him off without allowing him the dignity of a fair hearing. These individuals, masquerading as protectors are attempting to silence Mutumwa and erase his legacy.
The postponement granted by the court presided over by Her Ladyship Judge Hassim, is a victory for those who refuse to let Mutumwa’s voice be extinguished. It is a testament to Mupasiri’s unwavering determination to defend not only his own rights but also those of a man whose life and legacy hang in the balance.
The actions of Joseph Mudekunye, Shavirai Piniel Mawere and their co-conspirators are nothing short of reprehensible. Their attempts to exploit a vulnerable man, isolate him from those who genuinely care and weaponize the legal system for their own gain must not go unpunished.
As the court prepares to revisit the case on 18 August 2025, the spotlight will remain on their actions. The world is watching and justice, though delayed, is inevitable. This fight is a reminder that truth and courage, embodied by individuals like Tichaona Mupasiri and Nomusa Ramushu, will always prevail over deceit and greed.
