The visit will feature a significant business forum, scheduled for the afternoon of the same day, under the theme South Africa and Angola: Working Together to Forge a New Era of Cooperation and Partnerships to Increase Mutually Beneficial Trade and Investment. This forum aims to bring together key players from both countries to explore avenues for collaboration in trade and investment.

Speaking about the importance of this initiative, Ms. Natasha Pillay, a prominent South African businesswoman, highlighted the critical role of fostering such partnerships. “This state visit and the accompanying business forum are vital for accelerating trade and investment between South Africa and Angola,” said Ms. Pillay. “It’s an opportunity for minds to meet and for business leaders to forge alliances that will drive not just bilateral cooperation but also the development of the broader SADC region.”

Ms. Pillay emphasized the strategic importance of setting up corporations in South Africa. “South Africa serves as a gateway to the rest of Africa. Establishing businesses here provides unparalleled access to diverse markets, robust infrastructure, and a strong financial ecosystem,” she noted. “This becomes even more critical as we align our regional goals with the global stage, particularly with South Africa’s prominent role in the G20 Summit.”

The business forum will provide a platform for discussions on enhancing economic integration, leveraging resources, and identifying key areas for investment. Ms. Pillay added, “We must capitalize on this momentum to ensure that trade relations between South Africa and Angola are mutually beneficial. Such collaboration will not only boost economic growth but also create opportunities for job creation and innovation in the region.”

President Ramaphosa and President Lourenço are expected to address the plenary session, setting the tone for an era of strengthened cooperation. With both leaders committed to forging deeper economic and political ties, the State Visit is poised to mark a pivotal moment in the partnership between South Africa and Angola, driving forward a vision of shared prosperity for the SADC region.

Over the years, I have found it challenging to define myself solely by an academic qualification, trade, or occupation. My eagerness to learn, especially about how to build and deploy capital, has allowed me to accumulate diverse experiences in a short span of time. Through this journey, I have discovered that at my core, I am a storyteller. I tell the stories of corporations, their heritage, and the individuals who act in their name. I explore the role of these institutions in fulfilling the promise of a better Africa, and, most importantly, the causal link between the rule of law and economic development. As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
