Lindiwe Zulu, South Africa’s Minister of Social Development and ANC’s Head of International Affairs will be the special guest of honour at an executive lunch buffet to be held at The Royal India Restaurant in Sandton, South Africa on the 20th of January to celebrate the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris into the highest political office in the United States of America.

Other speakers at the event include Dr Ladislas Prosper Agbesi, Chairman, Pan African Business Forum, Mr Mutumwa Mawere, Chairman of Africa Heritage Society, Mr Jagjit Singh, Chairman of Royal Indian Restaurants and C2C Public Engagements and Outreach Initiative Director as well as ANC’s former youth leader, Mr Abner Mosaase.

The event which was organised by the Pan Africa Business Forum in partnership with Africa Heritage Society, Connections2Communities (C2C) and The Royal India Restaurant has attracted many influential business and political personalities from across South Africa and the region.

Independent News’ Sifiso Mahlangu will be the Master of Ceremony at this special event which has been organized in line with strict observance of Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.

Joe Biden, a career politician who has been very outspoken against South Africa’s apartheid regime will be inaugurated as the USA’s 46th president with Kamala Harris being the vice president.

Kamala Harris, who according to the The Economic Times of India is a woman of many ‘firsts’ brings a lot of interesting identities to America and the world’s corridors of power as she is described as – the first woman, the first African-American woman, the first Indian-American and the first Asian-American – to become the vice president of America.

With Biden’s pro Africa stance during the apartheid era and Harris’s Africa connection, the continent is waiting to see the course of action and policies to be adopted by the new American administration in relation to the wellbeing of the mineral rich continent as evidenced by an article written by Janice Greaver which rightly asked the question What Does The Biden/Harris Presidency mean to Africa?

The African continent is yet to pull out of the economic dungeon that it has been subjected for decades because of various reasons including what has been described as interference rather than collaboration by Western countries.

Mr Singh, the host and Chairman of The Royal India Group of Restaurants, in reference to Kamala’s Indian roots jokingly said, ‘an Indian curry dish is not complete without a touch of a potato. American democracy has got that missing ingredient called Kamala Devi Harris and so something new must be cooked for the world to enjoy this unity in diversity’.

He further assured that guests at the function will get an opportunity to feast on the best of North Indian cuisines
