Mbabane, Eswatini – The citizens of Eswatini have shown a remarkable understanding of the effects of adverse weather conditions while expressing their unwavering support for local leadership efforts in a heartfelt letter addressed to HRH Lutfo Dlamini, Chairperson of the Philani Maswati Charity. The letter, penned by a member of the public, commended HRH Lutfo Dlamini for his steadfast leadership and dedication to the charity, which operates under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother (Ndlovukazi). The writer specifically praised the organization’s efforts during the 2024-2025 crossover event, which faced significant challenges due to heavy rainfall. “I also commend you for organizing the 2024-2025 crossover event. Despite the unforeseen challenges posed by the heavy rainfall, your resilience and commitment shone through, reflecting your deep care for the well-being of our people,” the letter reads.

The acknowledgment of the adverse weather conditions reflects a growing awareness among emaSwati about the challenges posed by climate change and its impact on national and community events. Citizens recognize that leadership and preparedness are crucial in navigating these challenges, as demonstrated by the Philani Maswati Charity and its initiatives.

In further efforts to bring the community together and celebrate its elderly citizens, the Adventist Community Services, in collaboration with the Philani Maswati Charity Organisation, has organized a Prayer and Food Hamper for the Elderly event. The event will take place at the Philani Maswati Centre on Sunday, 5 January 2025. This event promises to be a moment of inertia unity, gratitude and reflection as citizens gather to celebrate the lives of the elderly. The initiative aims to honour and support elderly members of the community while fostering a spirit of giving and prayer. The organizers are calling on all emaSwati to be part of this noble cause, urging everyone to attend and contribute. “Let us come together as a nation to celebrate life, show gratitude for the wisdom and resilience of our elders and share our blessings with those who paved the way for us,” said one of the organizers. The letter to HRH Lutfo Dlamini also expressed confidence in leadership’s ability to overcome challenges, stating, “I understand the disturbances caused by the weather, but as emaSwati, we are confident that your vision and drive will always prevail.”

The collaboration between the Adventist Community Services and the Philani Maswati Charity Organization highlights the power of partnerships in fostering community development. This prayer and giving event is a testament to the shared values of compassion and unity that define the Kingdom of Eswatini. Citizens are encouraged to attend and support this meaningful event, celebrating the elderly and embracing the spirit of generosity that continues to strengthen the nation.
