Is land an object given commonly to all by the creator or it is property?

The video below was brought to the attention of one of the members of the Banking on Africa’s Future (BOAF) – 10,000 Points of Light (POL) this afternoon and after watching the view, one of the fundamental questions often ignored by people who believe that they are entitled to use the geography of birth as a weapon to claim ownership of the land they played no part in creating forgetting that land is not capable of being attached to humans of flesh but can be converted into a property by adding value to it.

How many people think and act like Mr. Louis Farrakhan in their misplaced construction that land in its native form has value and as such is capable of being alienated by human beings and more importantly that the right, title, and interest to it can be alive without the rule of law?

Land exists independent of humans but humans are endowed with the unalienable right to pursue happiness.

It is not the land that is property but when this gift of nature has human personality added to it, it then becomes a property that can be traded because the value of the land must have human input in the mix.

What then is agriculture? It is merely one of man’s created ecosystems to manage and organize inputs to convert gifts of nature into outcomes of value?

Land like any vehicle can be used to transform objects of nature like seeds into a harvest. However, no human being is capable of imagining and producing what is bequeathed to humanity.

The issue of colonialism and land dispossession ought to be framed in the context of value addition and exchange.

A subsistence farmer is a human being who produces outcomes to feed himself or herself with no trading as a goal.

The conversion of one form of input into outputs is not race-centric or subject to humanly created attributes.

What kind of Africa do you want to see? Surely, not an Africa in which human beings of flesh claim land that was created without their input or value add.

Does a shared understanding exist on what land is and is not? No.

So what shall we do? LITERACY and Farrakhan may need this medicine as well.
