Mr. Brian Manyati speaks on the Africa he wants to see as an Africa whose personality and character is shaped and a defined by a shared understanding that absent the respect of the rule of law, justice is a pipe dream.

He said: “Accordingly, the right to justice means that each and every citizen in a nation state is considered equal and enjoys the right to benefit from the protection of the law and not the protection of humans.

As a Point of Light, I thought of sharing this message on this special day in the history of my country of birth and the place I am proud to call home.

If Zimbabwe, this creature of law, was a living person what would it have to say about the last 42 years of independence?

Is the environment of 42 years later from the birthday characterized by a feeling that justice is alive and well?

If not, who should be to blame?

Yesterday, I willingly responded to Call2Action by Mupasiri to be the change I want to see and celebrate in Africa.

I am a volunteer in the quest and pursuit of media excellence.

I have understood that blaming others for not reporting what is known to me represents a self-defeating abuse of time that I could use to tell it as is it known to me.

I thought naively I must say that the right to justice was a preserve of the few who have the means to benefit from the justice system.

My knowledge of the formal system is limited to my limited experience which means that the only remedy to ensure that the injustice that visits others sometimes in silence when shared can help to prevent injustice to others

I used to think that if injustice visits my neighbor, then would be the victim’s business to sort out until I learned more about civics that I have a duty to shape the system that is fair and just.

I am not going to say much but watch the space, my identity as a story teller will speak for itself like a shining star or POL in the darkness of no shared understanding on issues that matter to our common future.”
