In the history rich and tourism bustling Mpumalanga province of South Africa, business and civic community players recently joined hands towards the sourcing and distribution of sanitary towels to disadvantaged schools in Mbombela.
The event which was organized by eMpumalanga TV and a local Marketing and PR company, Blessing M Holdings brought together a number of the province’s enterprising well-wishers on this worth cause in line with the country’s Sanitary Dignity Programme launched in 2019 in the same province.
Local businesses and civic organizations which participated in this charity exercise include Oasis Nelspruit, Chill Pepper Boutique Hotel, Bundu Lodge, Lamilage Cosmetics, Ark of Nation, Breakfast with Prisca M, Lam Brand, Sibani Selitsembe Youth Organisation, GRB Solutions & Projects.
Conducted under the theme, “Help Us Protect the Dignity of Our Girls” in honor of eMpumalanga TV personality, Mr Sipho Khuba’s birthday wish of distributing sanitary towels for the Mpumalanga school girls.
Schools which benefitted from the successful event held at Bundu Lodge include Khumubula Secondary School, Thembeka Secondary School and Boshcrand Primary School.
The Government’s Sanitary Dignity Program is a response to the high risk of many girls especially from poor backgrounds missing school due to the failure to manage their menstrual cycle hygienically.
According to the Sanitary Dignity Policy Framework, no girl child must miss school due to the lack of sanitary dignity products that helps them to manage a natural biological process.
Blessing M Holdings, Chief Executive Officer, Ms Blessing Mmola encouraged local business people and the whole community to continue working together in the fight against poverty around the province especially during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his appreciation for the support rendered in honoring his birthday wish of protecting girls’ dignity, Mr Khuba thanked all the participants and contributors to the noble cause and highlighted that the same community project is set to cover all the four corners of the province in the future.
