President Ramaphosa conveyed heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Namibia, particularly extending sympathy to First Lady Madame Monica Geingos and the Geingob family. He also expressed solidarity with Acting President Dr Nangolo Mbumba, the Namibian Cabinet, and the SWAPO Party during this period of mourning.

Reflecting on his recent visit in October 2023, President Ramaphosa highlighted the commitment to strengthen the partnership between South Africa and Namibia. He recalled President Geingob’s fervent dedication to shared prosperity and opportunities for citizens on both sides of the Orange River.

Acknowledging President Geingob as a towering figure in Namibia’s liberation, President Ramaphosa emphasized the significant role he played in fostering solidarity during South Africa’s struggle against colonialism and apartheid.

In his closing remarks, President Ramaphosa paid tribute to President Geingob as a comrade in the struggle and a valued partner in the democratic dispensation, saying, “May his soul rest in peace.” The passing of President Geingob marks a profound loss for both Namibia and the broader African community.
