Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa held a telephonic conversation this afternoon with President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, at the request of the Russian leader.
The discussion focused primarily on the ongoing peace process between Russia and Ukraine, as well as broader issues of mutual bilateral interest. President Putin initiated the call to provide President Ramaphosa with an update on recent developments in the peace negotiations and to acknowledge South Africa’s role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy.
President Putin conveyed his appreciation for South Africa’s constructive stance and active engagement in supporting efforts toward a peaceful resolution. He recognised the importance of continued international dialogue in resolving the protracted conflict.
In response, President Ramaphosa reaffirmed South Africa’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability. He expressed support for all genuine and inclusive peace efforts aimed at ending the war and building a lasting resolution that respects the sovereignty and security concerns of all involved parties.
The two leaders also reviewed the strategic relationship between South Africa and Russia, committing to deepen cooperation across various sectors. They agreed to maintain open channels of communication and to pursue initiatives that advance the interests of both nations.
The engagement reflects South Africa’s continued diplomatic efforts to play a meaningful role on the global stage, particularly in matters of peacebuilding and multilateral cooperation.
Over the years, I have found it challenging to define myself solely by an academic qualification, trade, or occupation. My eagerness to learn, especially about how to build and deploy capital, has allowed me to accumulate diverse experiences in a short span of time. Through this journey, I have discovered that at my core, I am a storyteller. I tell the stories of corporations, their heritage, and the individuals who act in their name. I explore the role of these institutions in fulfilling the promise of a better Africa, and, most importantly, the causal link between the rule of law and economic development. As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
