Johannesburg, 17 February 2025 – The South African government will hold a media briefing ahead of the first G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting under its presidency. The high-level gathering is scheduled for 19-20 February 2025 at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg, under the theme: “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”

The briefing, to be addressed by South Africa’s G20 Sous Sherpas, Ambassador Xolisa Mabhongo and Advocate Nokukhanya Jele, will provide insights into the confirmed attendees, the agenda, and expected outcomes of the meeting.

This marks a significant moment for South Africa as it assumes leadership of the G20, a grouping of the world’s major economies. Key topics of discussion are expected to include global economic stability, climate resilience, equitable trade practices, and the role of multilateral cooperation in addressing global crises.

South Africa’s presidency of the G20 is expected to emphasize Africa’s development priorities, fostering stronger international partnerships, and promoting sustainable economic growth.

The media briefing will offer journalists a detailed overview of the upcoming discussions and their potential impact on global diplomacy.

As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
