The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Youth Commission has announced a leadership transition, with Ms. Nonjabulo Sikhakhane appointed as Chairlady, succeeding outgoing Chairperson Mr. Giancarlo Carrozzo.

Mr. Carrozzo, who has led the Youth Commission with distinction, expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their contribution to the Commission’s growth and impact. He will now dedicate his focus to his new role as Chairman of the JCCI Manufacturing Cluster, while the Youth Commission embarks on a new chapter under Ms. Sikhakhane’s leadership.
In her capacity as Chairlady, Ms. Sikhakhane will oversee the reconstitution of the Youth Commission’s leadership team, with the following key positions currently open:
These positions provide a valuable opportunity for young professionals and entrepreneurs to contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, helping to define the strategic direction of the Youth Commission. The renewed leadership team will play a central role in strengthening youth participation in business, trade, and export development initiatives.
“Congratulations to Ms. Nonjabulo Sikhakhane on your appointment as the new Chairlady of the Youth Commission at JCCI. We look forward to seeing the great work ahead under your leadership,” said Mr. Tinashe Mpasiri, a valued member of the Chamber community.
JCCI’s Role as an Aggregator, Activator, and Accelerator
The JCCI continues to serve as an aggregator by uniting businesses across industries, fostering collaboration, and creating a platform for shared growth. As an activator, it opens doors to new markets, trade opportunities, and strategic partnerships, particularly for young entrepreneurs seeking to expand their businesses. As an accelerator, it drives initiatives that promote industrialisation, export growth, and job creation.
With South Africa holding the G20 Presidency, the Youth Commission is uniquely positioned to place youth-led enterprises at the forefront of trade and investment discussions. By aligning with G20 priorities on digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth, the Commission will ensure that South African youth are well positioned to benefit from global opportunities.
This leadership transition represents the beginning of a new era for youth-led economic development, inspiring young people to take on leadership roles and actively shape the future of commerce and industry in South Africa.
Over the years, I have found it challenging to define myself solely by an academic qualification, trade, or occupation. My eagerness to learn, especially about how to build and deploy capital, has allowed me to accumulate diverse experiences in a short span of time. Through this journey, I have discovered that at my core, I am a storyteller. I tell the stories of corporations, their heritage, and the individuals who act in their name. I explore the role of these institutions in fulfilling the promise of a better Africa, and, most importantly, the causal link between the rule of law and economic development. As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
