In a move set to strengthen South Africa’s small business ecosystem, the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Youth Commission has partnered with IDF Capital to host an exclusive Funding Opportunities Information Session for Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs). The virtual session will take place on 28 October 2025 at 12:00 PM.

The initiative comes at a time when access to finance remains one of the most significant barriers to growth for emerging entrepreneurs, particularly those operating in townships, peri-urban, and rural areas. The session aims to demystify funding processes and introduce SMMEs to practical financing options designed to help them expand operations, create jobs, and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
The JCCI Youth Commission continues to play a leading role in promoting youth-led entrepreneurship and inclusive business practices. Through strategic collaborations with development financiers like IDF Capital, the Commission seeks to create platforms that bridge the information and opportunity gap faced by many SMMEs.
Speaking ahead of the session, a representative from the JCCI Youth Commission emphasized the importance of financial literacy and access to capital as key enablers for business sustainability.
“Our goal is to ensure that young entrepreneurs and small business owners understand the various funding instruments available to them and how to position their businesses for investment readiness,” they said.
IDF Capital, a pioneering investment and development finance firm, manages the Busa Fund, a dedicated facility that supports SMMEs in underrepresented regions. The fund offers a range of tailored financial products, including:
These instruments are designed to support business growth, cash flow management, and project execution—enabling entrepreneurs to focus on scaling their enterprises and increasing productivity.
The collaboration between JCCI Youth Commission and IDF Capital aligns with broader national efforts to promote entrepreneurship, industrialisation, and economic transformation. As the country works to build a resilient post-pandemic economy, empowering SMMEs with access to capital and knowledge is essential for unlocking long-term growth.
Entrepreneurs and business owners interested in attending the session are encouraged to register and participate in this empowering discussion.

Over the years, I have found it challenging to define myself solely by an academic qualification, trade, or occupation. My eagerness to learn, especially about how to build and deploy capital, has allowed me to accumulate diverse experiences in a short span of time. Through this journey, I have discovered that at my core, I am a storyteller. I tell the stories of corporations, their heritage, and the individuals who act in their name. I explore the role of these institutions in fulfilling the promise of a better Africa, and, most importantly, the causal link between the rule of law and economic development. As a fellow believer in Africa’s potential, can I count on you to be a point of light in securing our continent’s future?
