Legal Practitioner, Mr. AG Mulaudzi, who founded and runs AG Mulaudzi Attorneys and is involved in the spearheading the setting up of an uber-like digital platform for lawyers and their clients will be inducted into the BOAF’s 10 000 Points of Light community.

The induction ceremony, a collaborative initiative of BOAF, Connections2Communities (C2C) and the Africa Heritage Society will be held at The ROYAL INDIA RESTAURANT located on No.2 Maude Street in Sandton, Johannesburg today the 3rd of May at 6pm in the evening.

BOAF, an 1873 Network initiative will induct him as one of the 10 000 Points of Light which refers to individuals who are recognized as shining examples in their respective communities and industries because of the great work they do to raise the continent’s flag high.

Mr Mulaudzi’s work involves the important aspect of litigation which is a vital part of any civilized society since the progress and prosperity of the people of Africa is intricately linked to the presence and respect of the rule of law.

Through seeking to bring all lawyers on one platform, Mulaudzi is being celebrated for being a game changer at a time like this where many lawyers are even prejudicing their clients especially thus increasing the cost of access to the legal system at the expense of justice seekers.

Creating of such a digital platform for lawyers will revolutionize the legal profession and help increase access to justice just like what Uber has done to the transport industry especially here in in a post-colonial Africa where the promise of constitutionalism is at stake.

The 10 000 Points of Light were convinced that the demystification of the legal field can only be alive when it is underpinned by active and vigilant citizenship based on a shared understanding of justice and where excellence among lawyers is identified and celebrated.

BOAF is an initiative of the 1873 Network, a member-based non-profit organization established in South Africa which is founded to provoke, inspire and ignite new and innovative ways of problem solving in Africa based on connected, equipped and forward leaning voluntary actors.

Mr. Singh, Director of BOAF -10,000 POL initiative said: “I am pleased to welcome Mr. AG Mulaudzi as an important addition to the Points of Light since I believe that it is within our collective means to deliver the transformation we deserve in the legal practice arena.

I salute Mr Mulaudzi for agreeing to be part of the names in the 10,000 points of light hall and actually paying his membership fee. If a platform business model can work for food and rides, I don’t see why the same model cannot work for the legal practitioners. Mr Singh highlighted.

He also added that “Mr. Lovemore Chanengeta, a BOAF member, who has developed innovative technological solutions for the education sector and other areas has undertaken to create and deliver this Uber-like application for lawyers under the C2C-BOAF LAW NETWORK umbrella.

The proposal is to build a community of BOAF lawyers and firms who share a common belief that when properly construed, a law firm is a circle of providers of services under one platform and sharing administrative and marketing services.

The new normal that will define the future has already taught us that connected people no longer need to share physical addresses but IP addresses. Effectively by choosing to build groupings of light providers, a borderless law bank can be established using the digital highways as bridges.

Under this framework, I am pleased to announce that Mr Mulaudzi is now a member of a circle of lawyers that we intend to build together as Points of Light in which concepts used in the mobile money business will be employed.

In a business conversation around setting up an uber-like legal platform, Mr. Mulaudzi concurred with business man Mutumwa Mawere that most black lawyers in South Africa are not doing well financially and the situation the Covid-19 pandemic has worsened the situation.

“The reality on the ground is that service providers like lawyers have not been spared from the wrath of this pandemic to allow anyone to be blind to the bleak and dark future in terms of justice delivery.” Mulaudzi explained.

iniAFRICANews, the Banking on Africa’s Future project media partner which has extensive covered corporate and legal matters across the divide also welcomed Attorney, Mr Mulaudzi to the hall of the continent’s light bearers.

“As a people, we live in a polarized society but legal practitioners are key in building the Africa that we want since they are fundamental in building bridges in a world where people are divided by disputes.

“It actually makes sense to build a bank of legal minds from a service provider and user perspective and as such, I congratulate Mr. Mulaudzi for taking the next step as a pilot of a platform that is urgently needed to build human and institutional capacity in the value chain”. Said an iniAfrica News representative.

Management Consultant, Ms. Janice Greaver, a member of C2C, AHS and BOAF, and said: “I would rather be in a crowd of lawyers than be a lonely lawyer suffering the burden to finance high overhead costs alone.

I am informed that Mr. Mulaudzi was at one time forced to vacate an office in the Joburg CBD to Soweto where he resides and thus had to use his house as the office, a development which presents its own challenge in relation to client acquisition, support services, and consultations.

The fact that Mr Mulaudzi did not give up but has actually availed himself to communities of like-minded inspired people that he can work with in solving problems that he himself has faced such as footing heft rentals fees makes him a light at such a time as this.

During these difficult economic times, it makes sense for lawyers like Mr Mulaudzi to choose the BOAF in solving problems.

I am encouraged that he has agreed to converting the AHS House based in Rivonia for use by members of BOAF-10,000 POL who face the same challenges.” Janice said.
