DEPUTY MINISTER GINA COMMENDS TIGER BRANDS ON ITS NEW R300 MILLION MANUFACTURING PLANT
Chamdor, Krugersdrop – The Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ms Nomalungelo Gina, lauded Tiger Brands for its latest venture – a cutting-edge Peanut Butter Manufacturing plant valued at R300 million. The inauguration ceremony held in Chamdor, Krugersdrop, witnessed the unveiling of the state-of-the-art facility.
Spread across more than 8000 square meters within Mogale City, the plant is set to bolster local employment with 62 full-time positions. Ms. Gina expressed her appreciation, stating, “This investment is a testament to Tiger Brands’ confidence in the South African economy.”
A noteworthy aspect of the venture is the company’s commitment to sourcing locally, with up to 70% of peanuts procured domestically. The remaining 30% are acquired from international markets, reflecting the company’s adaptability in meeting production demands.
In her address, Ms. Gina commended Tiger Brands for its dedication to economic transformation and fostering Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) through the Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD) program. “SMMEs contribute significantly to our GDP and employment rates,” she emphasized, highlighting their pivotal role in economic growth.
Moreover, Ms. Gina urged both Tiger Brands and other South African companies to leverage the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) for mutual advancement. “It is imperative for companies to harness the potential of AfCTA for their growth and the prosperity of African economies,” she asserted.
