Accountant, Pym Tembo has raised the Accounting profession’s flag high by getting inducted in the Banking on Africa’s Future’s Family of the continent’s torch bearers, the 10 000 Points of Light Hall.

Tembo is the founder and CEO of PDT & Co. Certified Chartered Accountants & Tax Practitioners which is located on 74 Van Riebeeck Avenue, Edenvale, in South Africa’s Gauteng province – http://www.pdtco.co.za

1873 Network is a member-based non-profit organization established in South Africa which is founded to provoke, inspire and ignite new and innovative ways of problem solving in Africa based on connected, equipped and forward leaning voluntary actors

Baking on Africa’s Future awarded the business man with a Certificate of Induction into the 10 000 Points of Light of Hall Fame in recognition of his brilliant ideas and positive actions that helps to transform Africa into a progressive, prosperous and inclusive continent.

The 10 000 Points of Light which refers to individuals who are recognized as shining examples in their respective communities and industries because of the great work they do to raise the continent’s flag high

The induction ceremony, which was a collaborative initiative between BOAF, Connections2Communities (C2C) and the Africa Heritage Society was held at The ROYAL INDIA RESTAURANT located on No.2 Maude Street in Sandton, Johannesburg.

BOAF -10,000 POL Project Director, Mr. Singh described Tembo as a soldier who is hands-on and added that the mainstay of the 1873 Network is the belief that an individual is the driver of change and that the earth’s greatest treasures acquire value through the agency of human beings.

“It is always encouraging to see forward leaning people who when provoked, respond positively and can see opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible.” Mr Singh said.

Mr. Tembo said: “I am excited to be part of this family. I had no hesitation to be in the bus because I know that it is in my interests to broaden and deepen my reach.

I think it’s necessary to build greater capacity and sharing of skills. There are times we need not compete but unify in order to make a greater impact.

He further highlighted that setting up a network of professionals in the Accounting field helps to reduce client acquisition costs hungry for business and any network.

I see myself as BOAF and therefore being recognized today, the very same day that Mr. Mawere is launching his book, When Minds Meet, gives me a bridge to increase my network.

My firm is open for business and I hope that as a shining Points of Light, I will play my part to make sure that we reach the target sooner rather than later especially considering that membership to this prestigious network is only investment of only R1, 000 per year.

In the pursuit of my dreams, I have followed people like Mr. Mawere and I know that his LinkedIn community of 30,000 members which is three times bigger than the BOAF-POL target is a resource that I can also tap from.

I need to borrow some of Mr. Mawere’s contacts and it seems obvious that the only way to conveniently access his net worth is by converting myself from a connection to a community of shared values and opportunities.”

In celebrating the induction of an Accountant into the family of Africa’s torch bearers, Management Consultant and BOAF member, Ms. Janice Greaver said: “It was only yesterday that I was trying to imagine what it would take to ignite people to see value in the power of association.

I am only realizing that all this time I have been waiting for others to show me where the money is yet if I am a consultant as I am, I do not need to be reminded that I am in the peoples’ business and anytime I meet a new face, I automatically see a supplier or buyer of my value add.

Now I know where to go for my tax returns and corporate questions. I am happy to have another Chartered Accountant in my circle, thanks to the Banking On Africa’s Future – 10 000 Points Of Light initiative.”
