It is with great pleasure on behalf of the Banking on Africa’s Future (BOAF) to announce that Mr. Gregory Nott (GN), a director at the global law firm, NortonRose Fullbright (NRF) Inc’s Johannesburg Regional Office, with responsibilities for the Banking and Finance practice, as one of the 10,000 Points of Light (POL) in recognition of his outstanding and exemplary work in using the law as a building block towards a future of excellence and inclusivity in Africa.

Mr. Mupasiri, the Director of the Justice Under Rule of Law (JUROL) initiative said: “I am encouraged that people like Greg exist and operate in our continent of 1.4 billion human actors.

Greg is an African point of light who has been listed as a leading lawyer in the financial and corporate space. He is also highly regarded in the Practice areas of Energy & infrastructure, Project development.

I have observed that many professional lawyers often forget that they are oath-takers but Greg who was admitted as an Attorney in 1987, has impressed many who know him by his willingness to see himself in any problem that is thrown at him.

He is the holder of a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Diploma in Corporate Governance.

As the head of the NRF Africa’s team, we hope that he will use his connectivity and experience to help build a community of lawyers and non-lawyers under this initiative so that conversations on the kind of Africa We Want can provoke, ignite, and inspire change that speaks to an inclusive and diverse system in which justice and accountability are celebrated as foundational principles and values.

From the Johannesburg office, Greg has oversight for three countries outside South Africa.

It is my hope that by him agreeing to be part of this building of a bank of hope characterized by a shared understanding that excellence is not divisible but captures the true essence of efficient and effective problem-solving tools.

Africa is divided and the only way to unite Africa’s human value chain actors is to identify, showcase, recognize, and celebrate excellence in all human endeavors.”

Mr. Koomson, a member of the 1873 Network said: “I am excited that Greg is a deposit into this Hall of Fame. I am originally from Ghana and have made South Africa my adopted him. Ghana was the first English-speaking country south of the Sahara to be independent and as we look back, we can all recognize the squandered opportunities to build a foundation that can best unlock human potential.

It is unmistakable that knowledge holds a better promise yet those who possess it, rarely share it outside the service provider to client binary.

Many lawyers would only have an opinion on a problem after receiving a deposit in their trust accounts.

We can count on Greg’s rich experiences in public interest matters to promise active citizenship in a continent that is accustomed to unaccountable public office bearers.

To build an open, accountable, transparent, and efficient governance system, we need to build this idea continent of only 10,000 persons to show that it can be done, and we have the duty to deposit our own contacts into this forum of human beings.
