Today’s Message: The Bible Exhorts Us Not To Be Ignorant

Prayer: Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus envelope our minds as your church in the name of Jesus. I pray that envelope me with the power of the living God in the name of Jesus. I declare our victory right now. 

Sermon Notes

Suicide is norm in South Africa 2022.  The world wants us as born-again Christian to take suicide as something that is usual.

The Bible is clear on the issue of Saul’s death: he committed suicide: “So Saul took his own sword and fell upon it . . . So Saul died” (1 Samuel 31:3, 6).

When anything bad happens in your life, you have a choice to either run to God or run away from God.

You’re not alone. God is with you and God loves you, and that’s why we can have peace even when life doesn’t make sense.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you pass through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned up. It will not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2, NLT).

What is Suicide and what does it mean?

Suicide is defined as the intentional taking of one’s own life. It could be a technique for people to escape sadness or misery. Each suicide, on the other hand, is a tragic event that affects entire families, communities, towns and nations, as well as those who are left behind. 

Suicide can be motivated by various factors such as.

1.Bullying – bullying is a form of human abuse.

2.A breakup in a partnership – it is very hard.

3.Separation from your spouse.

4.Unemployment, early retirement, age, or homelessness are that might lead to homelessness.

What is the Suicide Rate based on suicides this year 2022 Live? – Approximately 700 000 persons commit suicide each year, which is anticipated to grow by 2022.

According to the World Population Review website, countries with high suicide rates are Lesotho, Eswatini, Guyana, South Korea and South Africa which is on number 10 under the World Total Suicide Rate. 

The highest rate is 72.2 per 1000 people with the male suicide rates being higher than that of females.

Two versions of suicide deaths in the Bible: Saul and Judas Iscariot. Saul’s self-stabbing is suicide. Judas’ hanging is suicide 

Matthew 27:6-7 – NIV 6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners.

Acts 1:18 NIV 18 (With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

Satanism has a history in South Africa. In the 1980s and 90s, towards the end of Apartheid, white South Africa was gripped by paranoia and Satanism fell into the racially based fears characterised the era. Satanism was racialised.

Kirsty Theologo October 2011 – Drugged, Bound, Doused with Petrol and Set Alight – Participator turned state witness Lester Moody who admitted to using drugs heavily, said the group decided Theologo was Johannesburg ”great prostitute during a game where one ask questions and burns tissue paper with matches to see the answer.

Common Denominators

• Youth  
• Use of alcohol and drugs 
• Involvement in the occult
• Noticeable change of behavior.
• Don’t allow   children to drink alcohol in the house.

Let us not allow the devil (Satan) to takes his chances on us by always being vigilant. The Bible Exhorts us not to be Ignorant – 2 Cor 2:11 “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Satan uses these entry points – Sins of the flesh- anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, Occult, drugs, and alcohol. Galatians 5:19 

Afterward Jesus found him in temple and said to him, See, you are well. Sin no more that nothing worse may happen to you – John 5:14

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions factions.

Galatians 5:21 – Envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Carousing – the activity of drinking alcohol, enjoying oneself with others in a noisy wildly party. They start sleeping around with everybody without boundaries. 

Ladies, if you don’t want a husband and you only interested in having a child, you won’t know that you are creating a monster. You must always remember that a child needs both parents. There are certain levels and freedoms you will never receive without them.  

How to close the Door

1. Let Jesus Christ be Lord – God must not only be relevant to you when you are in trouble 2. Ask for God’s forgiveness Psalm 103:12 – He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. 3. Renounce all practices and contact with the occult. 4. Close the door of the flesh 5. Get established in the Word of God.

Conclusion – Do not be ignorant
